Dentures

Missing most or all of your natural teeth can make simple things like eating and speaking difficult.  Fortunately, lifelike dentures can effectively replace your missing teeth, restore your oral function, and enhance your appearance.  Our expert dentists in Westfield, MA, can craft custom dentures so you can eat the foods you love and speak confidently.

Take a Look at How Partial Dentures Work

Removable partial dentures rest along the gums and are anchored in place by small wires that wrap around the bottoms of your natural teeth. This type of denture can be a great choice for patients who still have some teeth remaining.

Dentures Can Address  Multiple Types of Tooth Loss

Complete Tooth Loss

Full dentures can be used to address complete tooth loss along one or both dental arches.

Localized Tooth Loss

Partial dentures can fill in the gaps caused by several consecutive missing teeth.

Multiple Areas

Partial dentures can also fill in the gaps in multiple areas where tooth loss has occurred.

Denture Candidacy You may be a good candidate for dentures if you:

Have Significant Tooth Loss

Dentures are best for patients missing most or all of their natural teeth. If you are only missing a few teeth, our practice in Westfield, MA, offers comprehensive treatment options such as implant-supported crowns and bridges.

Are in Good Oral Health

Your mouth and gums must be healthy before you can receive dentures. Issues such as tooth decay, infection, and gum disease must first be addressed to ensure a healthy foundation for your restoration. We offer a range of procedures that can get your oral health back on track.

Have Good Bone Density

Implant dentures require a healthy jawbone to support them. If you suffer from jawbone atrophy, you may still qualify for implant-supported dentures using the All-on-4® or All-on-6® method. For those with significant bone loss, bone grafting may be needed before you can receive your dentures.

Consultation

During your initial consultation at our dental office in Westfield, MA, your dentist will examine your mouth and discuss your oral health history and goals to determine if dentures are right for you.

Preparatory Treatments

If you need preparatory procedures to treat gum disease, extract teeth, or place dental implants, they must be performed first. Traditional dental implants typically require several months to fuse to the jawbone in a process called osseointegration.

Impressions

Once you are healed, or if you do not need preparatory treatments, your dentist will take impressions of your mouth. Our practice uses iTERO® digital technology, eliminating the need for messy putty impressions. These impressions will be sent to the lab where your custom dentures will be crafted.

Dentures

In about two to three weeks, your dentures will arrive at our office. You will have an appointment so your dentist can check the fit and make any needed adjustments to ensure proper function and comfort. For those with dental implants, your dentist will secure the dentures to your dental implants.

All that is left to do now is enjoy your new smile! Have questions about the process?
